Occupational therapy
Occupational therapy is a branch of health care that helps people of all ages who have physical, sensory, or cognitive problems. At Ekhaya Health & Fitness, our dedicated, on-site Occupational Therapists can help you regain independence in all areas of your life.
Occupational therapy can help if you have an injury, pain, illness, or a disability that makes it hard for you to complete specific tasks. For example, you may struggle to do your job or schoolwork, complete household chores, care for yourself, move around, or participate in activities.
Our Occupational therapy services teaches you how to adapt and helps you perform these tasks at school, work, or in your home.
What to expect
At your first appointment, the Occupational Therapist will assess your physical needs. They may come to your home, workplace or school to see what you do and what changes you need to make. If they are working with your child, they may visit their school. They can show you how to do daily chores better. The Occupational Therapist looks at how you complete any kind of activity or task; then they develop a treatment plan to improve the way you do it. The end goal is to make it easier or less painful to complete everyday tasks.
Our Occupational Therapists will help you do specific things like:
- Eat without help from others
